10,000 Visit Giveaway!
According to my ticker, I've had 10,000 hits on the blog! To celebrate, I'll be giving away a bit of Blog Candy! Leave a comment for an entry, and if you put a link on your website/blog, you get another entry. (Please put a link to your site in your comment!)
Entries will be accepted until Sunday, May 3rd. I will announce the winner on Monday, May 4!
The prizey is a cute collection of (mostly) handmade items, made by me. It includes a small photo album, which says "sweet little one", a candy bar enveloped in a pull-out wrapper, a birthday gift card holder, a friendship card which says "your friendship makes my heart happy", and a box of 12 notecards in summertime colors...ready to mail as is, or decorate on your own. Good luck, and spread the word!!
Monday Blahs & a Funny
We spent the weekend in DC, visiting Keith's family. Our niece's school was having a Spring Fling Fundraiser, and it was loads of fun...although 90 degrees was a tad toasty! Em enjoyed a pony ride, and spending a weekend with her cousin. We took the girls to get some photos done, and they turned out spectacularly well.
This morning, I woke up drenched in sweat, and with significant chills. Like, shaking, cold to the bone chills. I had to change my PJ's due to being soaking wet. My head ached, joints and muscles aches, and eyes hurt. Went back to bed, while Keith took Em to daycare. Less than 1 hr later, Keith was home in bed with the same thing. A pathetic pair we were today, and so thankful for daycare!
This afternoon, Keith and I went together to pick up Emerson. She told us in the car she was thirsty, and needed a drink. We told her she could have one when we got home, and started suggesting different drink options. "milk?"....."Nooooooooooo!" "Juice?......Nooooooooooooooo!" Finally, Keith suggested "Snake guts?" This was met with a long pause for consideration, and finally we heard a soft "Yeah." It was hilarious.

Excellent Post
I came across this post, while blog-surfing this afternoon. I think it really spells out what I was trying to articulate a few posts back about *needing* a girlfriend to hang with regularly. I enjoyed it, and bet you will too.

I've been tagged...8 Things
Well, I've seen lots of tagging going on on several blogs I visit. Today, my Mom tagged me on her blog. I thought it might be fun to play along...
8 Things I am Looking Forward to:
1) Going to see Garrison Keillor with my Mom & Keith on Mother's Day weekend
2) Celebrating our 6th anniversary in October at the U2 concert in Raleigh
3) The end of pine pollen in NC...hopefully it will be gone soon, and I'll be able to breathe again!
4) Having another baby someday
5) Seeing what comes next in my career
6) Making homemade ice cream this summer
7) Attending my brother-in-law's wedding
8) Our next trip to the beach...always a relaxing time
8 Things I Did Yesterday
1) Took my Dad to the airport to go fly home to Indiana
2) Had lunch at Whole Foods with Emmy
3) Library visit, and freaked out when Em snapped a library DVD in two when we got home!
4) Chose the wall color for the downstairs bathroom...rainwater, doesn't that sound lovely?
5) Ate too much cake...can't have it in the house, or I'll eat it all (got that honestly from my Gram!)
6) Worked out with the trainer at the gym...ouchie.
7) Watched American Idol
8) Baked a quiche with the leftover Easter ham...yummy!
8 Things I Wish I Could Do
1) Open up a bakery / Independent Children's bookstore with my best friend Jen.
2) Live within 30 minute driving distance of all of Emmy's grandparents, so they could enjoy her more often
3) Own a beach house (hey, a beach shack would do!), and go there regularly
4) Watercolor
5) Sing (well)
6) Take the summer off, and travel internationally
7) Know how to do Photoshop, so I could alter pics, and do Digiscrapping
8) Knit or crochet
I won't tag anyone, but if anyone feels like playing along, please leave a link to your blog answers in the comments section!

CVS Score!
Just have to stop by to tell you about my awesome trip to CVS yesterday. I got a bottle of Pantene shampoo, Pantene conditioner, Pantene hairspray, a bottle of Softsoap apricot body scrub, 2 Reeses peanut butter eggs, and 4 bottles of Sobe flavored vitamin water for a grand total of $0.04. Yep, FOUR CENTS! (Oh, and they gave me $6.50 in Extra care bucks to spend next time.)
Can I say it again...coupons and sales + ECB's ROCK!!!

Egg-citing Weekend
We had a fun-filled weekend! We did some Easter egg decorating on Saturday. It was Emmy's first time dying the eggs, and she thought the whole thing was a bit peculiar. She didn't quite understand that eggs are a little fragile, and would slam them into the cups and squeeze them a bit. So, we have some colorful, cracked eggs. No worries, they will be deviled eggs at the end of the week. We went to JC Penney's yesterday for Easter pics. They turned out really great, and I am looking forward to their arrival next week. Family and friends will be seeing them in their mailboxes soon! JCP was having a great sale, and I managed to find some new curtains for our living room at a great price. I've been searching for months, and haven't found anything reasonably priced...what a stroke of luck to find them there! We did a brief trip to the local park today, and got some Cold Stone Creamery ice cream afterwards. The pine pollen is now out in full force, which isn't so fun, and makes the entire house/car/roads/EVERYTHING turn a sickly yellow-green color. Our eyes are burning, noses are stuffy and throats are scratchy. It's a yucky 1-2 week period of endurance in NC...ugh!
We're embarking on a little bathroom home improvement project downstairs. Just some paint and cosmetic stuff, but it should be enough to hold us over for a couple years until we are able to do a bathroom overhaul. I will post some before & after pics when it's complete!

We've got a reader!
Each Tuesday, Emmy and I make a trek to the local public library. She loves the children's section, with its abundance of small chairs & tables, bookcases filled with wonderful treats, and kid's videos galore. We make our selections, and patiently stand in line to check out. Each night, we read library books before bed. Emmy enjoys reading books on her own, after we've put her in her crib. We usually hear her talking & singing after we've closed the door. She tends to wind down for about 30 minutes on her own. I love to peek in on her, and see her laying on her tummy with her feet in the air, nose in a book. So cute! We are so happy that Emmy loves to read!
